STi seats done...

As everyone knows i have 2003 WRX seats in my car. Well I just finished some 2007 STi seats for Ron (NeedforSpeed)'s pearlie. Here are some pics as well as the detailed pics that I never did from my WRX seats. STi seats are more difficult to do, but they are still possible. The trim on the in-side of each seats causes you to have to push and work the monting points into place. Whereas my WRX seats fall into place.. Here are the pics:

The inside rail with the stock rear foot cut off

The outside rail with the stock foot cut off and the extended tab welded on

And they make great furniture at that.... My next "Im bored" project will be to make a office chair out of a STi seat.. The donor chair frame is already in my possession.

I sit in them while playing Forza 2 on my 360, driving an STi of course. I kind of laugh at myself sitting in a WRX seat, with pedals and steering wheel in front of me, looking at the screen...

It is the perfect gaming chair..... I had the both front seats from the WRX in my room for a while and they were set up in front of the TV... Playing xbox has not been the same since they actually went into the car.

So anywho, to make sure I've got this right:

On the WRX seats:

-front inner bolt needs to be ground wider towards the center of the seat (turned into an oval, whatever term you want to use)
-rear feet have to be cut off
-rear outter is a plate welded to the rail with a hole drilled
-rear inner rail has a ~1" section removed from the top and a hole drilled to allow the bolt to go through, the bolt to the driveshaft hump is not used.

Sound right?

correct.... In addition you need to bend the front mounting tabs down. The WRX seat front mounting tabs are curved up slightly. A 5 lb hammer fixes that easily....

I gotta say, I dont exactly dig the wrx seats in your car...but the sti seats look MUCH better. They have some nice curvature to them that really fits the character of the svx I think

now you just need blue suede

My WRX seats will more than likely be getting re done in dark leather with light grey suede inserts though.... Once that is done the appeal level will go up a lot. A agree though that the STi seats are hot. If there was a way to get blue carpeting I would do that and then get the light greay suede pieces replaced with matching blue suede.....

I actually like these how much lighter are they than the stock seats?? and how much did you pay for them???

the driver seat is about 25lbs lighter and the pass is about 17lbs I think.. Something like that. All in all I saved 42 lbs total. STi seats are slightly heavier, but only by a couple of pounds

Speaking of this, that guy I e-mailed just got back to me (something about their server going on vacation...) He says they can do what I want, but he has a few questions for me first. I responded saying fire away with the questions. When he gets back to me, do you want me to check on whether they can do suede inserts?

Katskinz can do suede inserts..... My plan si to replace on the WRX seat where the black is with grey leather (the grey they have is incredibly close to oem SVX grey) and where the blue is on the top part of the seat do in silver suede.

Do the STi seats come in any other color? I love the blue, but it wouldn't work in the tan interiors some of us are stuck with... I like the tan stock more than the grey, but the grey definitely has more potential with upgrades, such as the WRX seats and wheel, now the STi seats, etc...
