hey does anyone know any tricks to getting the door for the cd compartment off???

you need to remove the radio cage that it is attached to before gaining access to the screws to remove it.

on the door. ( when it's open) the black trim piece that moves with the door you have to take that off to expose the screws on the lower portion. then you can remove the trim ring, then take out the rest of the screws. and pull the unit out of the car. then you can take off the door and do whatever you need.! hope this helps

One thing that will be a help to you; the details you have been given above are good, and you will only be tempted to look for the BFH once or twice

However: the metallic edges of this cage are edged like a knife. These knife edges will mark everything they touch. Particularly at risk is the faux wood of the lower console, and the surface of the cigar lighter and ashtray compartment.

My advice is this; get some 2" or 3" packing tape, heavy duty if possible, and mask up these surfaces before you start. This damage tends to happen just as you have got the cage out as far as the connected loom at the back will allow travel.
