Ever tried to get a brake caliper in an emergency?

Yeah, right. Damn near impossible. I had one at my local NAPA store in stock, which blew out a piston seal instantly. After making me drive 30 miles to another NAPA only to find they "misboxed" the part, I now have to drive 120 miles to get one from someone else. NOBODY STOCKS THESE THINGS! Having such a rare car is so bittersweet... great to show off, but when you need parts in a pinch it makes me want to tear my hair out!!! AHHH!!!

Okay, done venting. Thanks.

I have one or two of each also--they're called parts cars.

I so agree having a parts car is essential to owning an svx. I paid $300 dollars to buy my parts car and then another $100 to have it on a flat-bed to my barn.

My pearlie has utilized this resource quite often. I have already got my money out of it and still it remains to be my source for parts.

I was lucky. My caliper didn't fail suddenly, it did it gradually--which allowed me to drive all the way across the country before being replaced.

The rear calipers are off of the first-gen Legacy, and the fronts are off of a Nissan Pathfinder... it's not like any of them were designed only for the SVX. But after researching front calipers for quite a while, I found that they are indeed pretty rare.

Rears are a dime a dozen though.

Had to find a rear caliper for my PT Cruiser. Took a week, so it isn't 'cause the SVX is rare. There's 100,000's of PTs out there.
