Projected 12 Second 1/4 Mile Foolishness

Want to read some silly and insane? Here it goes-->

I had an Outback Sport that was turbocharged and intercooled. Curb weight is 2835lbs (Not counting the baby seat) and stock hp was 137hp. Using a 60hp shot of nitrous and 5psi of boost (50hp) came out to approximately 247hp @ the crank. I'll add maybe 15hp for exhaust/pulley modifications and such. I was luckily able to hit consistent 13.1 - 13.2 1/4 mile runs.

So..the SVX has approximately 3550lbs give or take and 230hp stock. Both cars have the same tranny. A little ghetto math tells me all I need is around a 328hp @ the crank for the SVX to get to the low 13's. If you take away 15hp for the intake/exhaust/pulley combo, then it is 313hp.

This tells me that all you would need is an 80hp shot of nitrous to get to low 13's and a 100hp shot to get to the 12's (High 12's). This is when launching with nitrous. When I say launching with nitrious, I mean power-braking at the starting line and then hitting the nitrous just past 3000rpm, in 1st gear. Oh....and you must get 1.8 - 1.9 60ft times.

Isn't this silly?

id say a 100 wet shot would be fairly safe with the stage 2 chip. people only really started blowing motors with the 150+ shot or spraying below 3k. I forget his name but the member with the fastest svx ET to date runs a 75 on top of a 50 shot.

Kevin,
No doubt it could do it once
Given YT's prior experience with NOS and sc, I'm afraid you'll be finding yourself with at least one, if not two, pistons with broken ring lands...

gonna need more than that. To be honest, that will probobly be the wheel horsepower figure you would need to see to reach 12's

That has me concerened Bill. What about PoweredX2's experience. I have been reading his posts for the past week or so and seems he has had some really positive results. His trap speeds definitely has got my attention. All he had to do was pop off a 1.7 - 1.8 60ft time and he would've tapped into the 12 second territory I believe. Are you saying our cars are not capable of handling a 100hp wet shot of nitrous? This nitrous is the 3rd part of a plan I was trying to put together to reach that target goal.

I believe 125 shot wet is fine as long as you use the ECUtune software to reduce timing and use a two stage layout or a programmable nitrous controller. Anything is possible

Kevin,
No, I'm not saying the EG33 can't handle, only that you'll have to be careful (see YT's post). PoweredX2 is running a two stage set up, with the first stage being only a 50 shot (dry) (if memory serves me right). I do believe that nitrous will get you into the 12s, just give the set up plenty of thought and jet accordingly

Silly question but why two stage it? Why not go 100 shot right after 3000rpm in 1st gear? Is the car too fat to move and you could break something? It's a serious question.

I'm looking for YT's post now. I thought I covered most of the nitrous posts. *Digging in now*

loading the engine all at once can be really bad. i did it with my 165 shot and almost blew up my car with a big backfire. Starting with a smaller shot will get you out of the hole nicely and following up with an additional shot will help your top end. Just a good way to do it imho

Me thinks you can achieve a 12 second 1/4 with a naturally aspirated SVX. No need for add ons!
