first ticket in the svx but for my ranger???

I got pulled over tonight in my silver car for a loud exhaust. I got a warning for the exhaust, but then the cop asks if i have a truck I tell him yes and he tells me that I almost ran him over last week!

Says that I went through a construction zone he was overseeing at 45mph

i told him that I went through in second gear and that would be around 20mph. He tells me that i am lieing just like I am lieing about my exhaust being legal

! I looked away from the cop and looked straight out the windshield so i wouldn't say anything stupid. The cop then says,"Why are you smirking? Stop smiling! You do that again (45 through the construction zone) and you won't have a license to worry about." I said nothing in response and he demanded my license back and proceeded to give me a $200 ticket for speeding through a construction zone in my ranger 4 days earlier

. Can a cop backdate a ticket like that? I am fighting it and look forward to seeing him in court.

BTW I am VERY respectful of cops and the cops in our town are known for being ego tripping jerks and racist.....

You should be able to get the ranger ticket thrown out in court. I doubt the ticket has all the info on it seeing as he wouldn't have your plate #. It will be your word against his. You could also fight the exhaust ticket provided you take it to a shop that will smog test it and verify the cats are legal and the sound level is below whatever your local law calls for.

U should fight against it.... it seems like they dont worry abt all those exhausts on ricer cars while they get back on cars like ours which they r jealous of....

My plate is on the speeding ticket as he looked it up in pc in the car. It was just a warning on the exhaust, but it passed everything when i got it inspected and Mass has no decibel law. I will simply ask him in court if he describe the visual differences between a 1996 ranger and a 1997 ranger. He won't be able to.

fight it as they have to catch you on the same day/time that you did the offense. THATS THE LAW . if you go to court them he will have to prove that you were driving the truck at that time that the offense occuired just because you own the truck doesnt mean that you were driving it at the proscribed time also he has to call it in to dispatch to tell them what he was doing IE routine traffic stop , if he has you on video then he MIGHT be able to get it to stand up in court. I would contact an attorney on this matter the first visit is normally free and they will be able to tell you the exact law on this matter. BUT FIGHT IT , IT IS ,AS I UNDERSTAND IT (from my police friends)<ILLEAGEL THEY WERE TRYING TO FILL THEIR QUOTA my opinion

The easiest way to fight it would be to find some sort of inconsistency on the ticket. For example, I doubt he remembered the exact time and wrote down a guess. If you can prove where you were at that time, you're off the hook.

in missouri defiantly where he lives idk but i know most states dont allow tickets after the fact or else you could be written a ticket for an offense that happened 3 weeks ago, 6mths ago ETC ( other than an accident)
