I was asking if anyone here works or has a home based business?

I was looking into either a telecommuting type or "home based online" business for supplemental income. Your views or experience with this? Thanks

I may as well work from home. I show up like once or twice a week, do my updates, and out the door within a few hours.

Most companies have a problem with "declared" work at home due to insurance.

The first and foremost important thing for you to efficiently work from home is a quiet place away from all of the distractions that home life provides.

If you like computer games, get another PC to use for work, and dont install them on that machine. If you like TV, keep it out of the room you are in. make sure if you have kids (stay at home all day kind) make sure that you can be quietly secluded from them. Nothing like an 18 month old busting into the room screaming while you are on a conference call with the VP on speakerphone.

Also make sure that whatever room you will be working from contains nothing but work related available activities. Working from home takes a LOT of self discipline.

I worked from an in-home office for a few years and second this. If you're easily distracted and have any sort of problem staying on-task, you could be asking for trouble. I used to take a break at lunchtime to walk to the mailbox (1/4 mile) and sometimes wouldn't make it back to my desk for hours if it was a nice day (especially if there happened to be a check in the box). It's cool to "commute" up the stairs, but some of us, especially lazy, attention-deficit procrastinators like me, do better in an office environment.

Also, telecommuting is one thing, but be very wary of any sort of "home-based online business" scheme.

I suppliment my income with a "home-based online business", but one I started myself...alveyusa.com. You've got to invest in it to make it work.
