Re: Why does this car like so much timing?

Quite frankly... the ms3 might be cheaper but the hydra us a lot easier. Pnp and load one of my maps and you are running well enough to get to the tuner. No trigger mods no external coils. Plug it in and run a vacuum hose.

I'm hoping by tax return time I'll have enough saved to order the PNP MS3 kit with the 3.0 revision for 6COP ignition support.

So, about 4 months. At which time I'll make a thread for tuning and for my build. I don't mind being the Guinea pig, but I'd rather have an idea of what I'm doing, before I jump feet first.

I realize the learning curve is going to be steep, but it was just as steep when I was teaching myself to do wire harnesses . And that turned out really simple, I can only hope this will prove as easy once I bite into it!
So you are swapped into an impreza?

Agreed. But I am hoping to get it developed and setup to a similar point. For the price difference and the added *fun* of figuring it out I'd rather go for the MS. Might never be 100% pnp, but hopefully I can get it close.

The price point is the major selling point for me. It has tons of customization options so getting it to work just requires some reading and wiring. I'd rather learn to tune myself than run to the tuner every time I change something. Especially when I go turbo. And given there isn't an AWD dyno shop within 150miles.

I can always use this experience to build my resume for side-jobs and make a few bucks on the side too. Just another tool in the tool box .

Nope, a legacy.

From the DIYPNP site, it should be 99% plug and play with their revision card which adds COP for up to 8 cylinders and supports our 12 tooth crank gear. Unless I'm misreading something.

Hey Nassir, for the cam sensor, there is a small notch on the backside of the cam wheel that it picks up. So yes, it's a 1 "tooth" setup.

That is awesome. Thanks.

Well, I just went ahead and ordered one. Hopefully the wife doesn't murder me. :/

Ohhh so you're jumping in before me eh?

*edit*
here's what I found from diyautotune. Good read for beginners, even though I knew most of this, but some of it is new and helpful.

I probably won't get too much time to work on it until this weekend.
