SVX at Copperstate 1000 Car Show

Let me first start off by saying that about a week and a half ago I moved from my hometown of Omaha, NE, to Avondale, AZ, where I will be living for the next couple of years while attending Universal Technical Institute for their automotive tech program. I see this move as not only a step in the right direction toward the career I want, but also an opportunity to get my SVX away from the nasty weather, poor roads, and salt that Nebraska has to offer.

Anyway, I found out about the Copperstate 1000 Car Show a few days ago, and read they were having a "cruise-in" type car show in the parking lot outside of the stadium where all the Copperstate cars were being shown. I decided to make the drive over to Tempe, AZ, with the hopes of being able to maybe park the SVX around some very expensive cars. I was able to do just that, and my SVX really drew some attention. I ended up not being able to walk away from my car after I'd parked it because I kept getting asked question after question. I was shocked at the amount of people who were really interested in my car. Amongst all the Porsches, Ferraris, Lancias, Alfas, Chevys, and Fords, I was the only Subaru. (And I think the youngest person with a car on display )

I took just over 60 photos from the show, and will not post them all in this thread for the sake of you with slower computers, but here is a link to my Picasa album: https://picasaweb.google.com/tjaixen...eat=directlink

A few of the guys told me about local car shows that are held each month and invited me to come out because, "That car is so rare, you'll definitely be the center of attention!"
I wish I could remember all of the compliments and comments I got, but I'm sure as an SVX owner you've all heard them before.

Just thought I'd share. It really brought a smile to my face to see how much people love this car.

I'm right in the middle of this picture. This is the lot that all of the "cruise-in" cars parked in (only about half of the lot):

Yes, that is a brand new Lamborghini Aventador in the background:

I do about 8 or 10 car cruise nights and car shows a year. A lot of attention, and so far one trophy.

Re: SVX at Copperstate 1000 Car Show

Thanks for sharing. Lots of really cool older cars. I don't get very excited by fancy, expensive, new supercars, since the chances of me owning one are about 0%, but I really like the awesome older cars. Although that white Ferrari (?) behind your car in the first pic I do quite like, and I have a soft spot for Lotuses.

What is this?

To the OP... good work on getting the SVX out in the scene. Needs to happen more often!

Great collection of cars to show with Trevor. What did you do with your Mustang center cap, paint it black?

I had some black vinyl lying around the house and I cut circles to fit over the Ford emblems. Thought about painting, but this way I can just remove the vinyl and sell them as they originally were if I ever do decide to part with them.

The sheet already had an adhesive backing. If I remember correctly it was a 3M product.
