Re: Vibration from driveshaft

Looks like you'll need a new clutch basket to go along with that new clutch pack

That would probably be a good call. I'm a little new to tearing into the transmission like this so I'm learning as I'm going. I've just replaced the transmission so far.

I pulled on the splined shaft that comes out of the back of the transmission when I took the driveshaft off, and there seemed to be some play. I bet that the play is from the damaged clutches and clutch basket and then that slight shake translated into the bigger vibrations in the driveshaft. Also the rear wheels were not engaging the way there are supposed to. Soooo, I think I'm on the right track=)

So is there anything else to check or replace while I'm at it?

Re: Vibration from driveshaft

So I replaced the rear end of my transmission with the rear end of another stage 1 4EAT. I replaced the clutch basket (the whole assembly shaft that it's attached to), the clutch pack, and the rear case with solenoid C. However the vibration still exists. It doesn't start till a little higher speed (~45) but it's still there.

So basically I've brought the car to 3 shops and all said that the driveshaft or transfer clutch were to blame. I replaced both. The problem's still there.

Could the TCU cause this?

I think my next step is to set the car on fire and run it off a cliff.

Re: Vibration from driveshaft

So the problem has finally been resolved! I brought the car to a transmission shop and they found that the pinion shaft in the rear differential was slightly bent. I'm not sure how the previous 3 shops didn't catch that or how that even happens, but either way, the car finally works! Thanks for everyone's help!
