Re: Trailer hitch

*bookmarked*

Any thoughts on trailer capacity for that hitch? Obviously it would depend on the build quality, but I imagine it would have no problem with a single motorcycle trailer?

Re: Trailer hitch

I pulled a Harley using a Harbor freight 4X8 trailer 60 miles no trouble. towing cap of the car is about 2,000 lb. i would not do a lot of towing with it, the tran. just about works with the car as it is, <LOL>
Putting a picture of the new 5X10 Tractor Supply trailer being towed with my Goldwing trike onboarrd ( 1,200 lb + 600 lb trailer no problem.) see Locker for picture.

I never got that email you said you sent me. Possibly was too large. My email only accepts up to 20 megs

Re: Trailer hitch

Where did you tap the wiring to make the harness for the trailer lights? Just off the tail lights and signal?

Re: Trailer hitch

I opened the little door in the trunk behind the tail light and tapped it there. I did Brake and turn and driving on the left side and then did the right turn on the right tail light and ran the wire back under the cover to the left side. I had to use a tail light converter form Wal Mart ( $19.00 ) to get the 3 wire to work ( combo Brake and turn for the trailer ) you could hook separate turn sig. lights on the trailer but then only that trailer will work with your car. It really is a great hitch. i put a picture of it with the trike on back in the locker.

Re: Trailer hitch

I've been interested in one more to put one of those trailer hitch racks on than to actually tow a trailer, since for long trips and such the SVX has pretty much no room. Did anyone ever made an aftermarket hitch for our cars? If I had one, I'd definitely want to figure out a way to like, attach the receiver to the bottom of the hitch in such a way that you can remove it when you aren't towing, since looking at the back of my car, the bumper hangs down low enough that it might look funny, I think...

Re: Trailer hitch

No one ever made an hitch for this car. See pictures in my OLD locker. I remove the ball when not in use. The hitch can be made with a little skill and a 3" X1/2 thick steel plate 56 " long. some welding and a few bolts. It can be completely removed but it would take 1/2 an hour and the use of a lift.
