CD Door Fix
well, while re-re installing my 6 disk changer in my ebony, I decided to tackle a little something that had been bothering m,e for some time..The CD door, when you opened it, succombed to the forces of gravity and came slamming open. Not a big deal to most people, but I was missing out on the slow, 1990's style space station door opening effect whenever I wanted to listen to the radio.
Ive seen this little problem happen on many many svxi, and if you're as peculuar as me, you want it fixed. It really is a quick and straight forward repair. First, you need to remove the cd cage from the car. Look on the side and you'll see a little gear that runs off tracks attached to the door. Take something small, in my case a tiny screw driver, and use it to gently tap the center of the gear with a hammer. Done. The gear, I thought, was spring loaded. It turns out it's press-fit in to it's base, which creates the resistance. If for some odd reason you have no tiny gear there, you'll be pleased to know the one on the ash tray is exactly the same.

I want to motorize mine.
 Key goes to ACC, door opens. Key goes to LOCK, door closes. Not till I get around to upgrading my audio system though, that's project number 5 or 6.
