do you see red puddles on top of engine block behind P.S. pump? if so, possible o-ring failure. if drips are coming from lower crossmember look at the hoses on passenger side back under motor, this is where mine failed, i bought a piece of p.s. hose from some other car and cut it to fit since ours aren't locally avalible.

steering fluid lean

thanks lilbrudder, it seems to be low and on pass side. sounds like a hose, although i can smell some of it burning so maybe on engine block. i shall investigate further this weekend. thanks again.

There are two hoses that can leak.

High pressure - has metal pipe fittings on the end - you can buy a new one $$$$ or take the leaking one off and get it rebuilt at a shop that rebuilds hydraulic hoses.

Low pressure - has hose clamps on the end - you can buy 3/8" ATF line from your local autoparts store. They sell it by the foot.

^^^yup, that burning is the ps fluid dripping on your exhaust, pretty common, but get it fixed, my bros was dripping for like 6 months when it gave way almost catching the car on fire.

If the hose doesn't fix it, check the O-ring. That is in the How-To Documents and is an easy fix. It is a very common problem.

my power steering hose was leaking (the high pressure one) bought a new one from subaruparts, slapped it on pretty easily, no more dripping on exhaust!!! although im still losing a little fluid, maybe the oring, and i still smell slight burning, probably the exhaust burning off the last of the fluid. i would definitely check the high pressure hose, that seems to be a trouble one. if you can hear sizzling after a long drive and some sharp turns, thats probably it.
