Quick tranny question.

Hey, i am looking to buy another SVX. The thing is that it has a bad tranny. I heard something like Nissan Pathfinder tranny and Mazda MPV is the samething as the SVX. If so what years. Any mods you have to do or all plug and play. BTW what if i rebuilt the tranny myself. How my for the tranny rebuild kit. Any input? Thanks.

Kind of the same, being that they are a 4EAT, meaning 4 speed electronic automatic transmission. I'm pretty sure it was found not to work out, but I could be wrong. I think the best option is getting a geniune subaru reman or do a 5 speed conversion. There has been talk of using the Impreza or Impreza WRX autos. Try the technical forum, see if you can search a bit.

There really is no point going out of your way to get a whole Pathfinder transmission, but if you have technical knowledge and can rebuild it yourself you can salvage parts from a wrecked one.

How much does a rebuild kit cost. When the tranny goes bad, usually what part is it? Where can i purchase rebuild kits from? Any input. Thanks.

I imagine the "part that goes bad" would be almost everything, being that heat is the problem, and over time the components get baked.

When mine was overhauled I was told the thing was literally "baked front to back".

All I knows.
