Talking That thing got a Hemeh?...it sure corners like one!

Disclaimer: This is NOT a Street Racing Thread

As many of you know, I've lost 2nd and 4th gear on my 4.11 trans and I'll be installing 4.44's in the coming weeks! As a result, I've been a good citizen of late, and driving the posted speed limit wherever I drive...

This morning, I happened to be driving to the parts store to pick up a few things for my weekend projects (installing a new trans cooler & draining and replacing my ATF), when I pass a guy in one of those new Jeep Grand Cherokee's with a hemi engine (saw the hemi badges when I drove by him before he turned onto the highway). This guy catches up to me in a hurry and proceeds to sit on my tail for the long 11 mile drive into town on a 2 lane highway with a 55mph speed limit - traffic didn't permit him to pass me.

As we get closer to town, the speed limit steps down to 45mph and then to 35mph and I slow down to stay within the law, and I can see this guy getting more and more perturbed in my rear-view mirror. We eventually come to a section of road where you have to make a sharp right and then an even sharper left to get onto an on-ramp to merge onto a 4 lane 55mph highway. The 'hemeh' Cherokee hangs on my tail through the first right, but on the sharper left turn I take it at ~35mph with no drama (thanks to the SVX's excellent suspension) and proceed up the ramp to the highway. When I look in my rear view mirror, the Cherokee's rear had swung around about 5 feet on the guy, and he had to brake hard to stay off of the guard rail.

Needless to say, he didn't hang on my tail after that as I continued to drive the speed limit the rest of the way into town.

-Chike

P.S. Think my front & rear polyurethane bushings and 16x8" RX-7 wheels with sticky max performance summer (160 treadwear) Dunlop SP Sport 8000's had anything to do with how I took that corner?
