I reused the original gaskets but they were in pretty good shape.

it can be removed... The throttle body will need to be removed from the intake and then you can flip it over to access the IAC.

I sprayed some throttle body spray into the throttle body, put it all back together and then took it out for a drive. The problem still persists - the car wanted to turn off when the rpms got down to around 700 or so. But the check engine light didnt come on as it did yesterday (no codes for bad O2 sensors). Cant decide if i want to change them out or not to see if they are the problem.

Later in the week I'll remove the idle adjustment control valve (I think I now see where it is) and see if anything looks out of whack. If I cant figure it out I'll have to take it to a mechanic (which I hate doing). When I get the issue figured out I'll write back. Thanks to everyone for their help.
