Re: Tachometer goes to 9? Why?

This quote is from the 92-97 spec page:
http://www.cars101.com/subaru_svx.html

"1994 added an electronic cut off at 136 MPH pre 94 models used RPM to limit top speed at 155"

so this is wrong?

The electronic cut off is proven to be bogus on later models and they top out because there's not enough motor left for the gearing to go any faster not because the RPM limits it. At 155, it would be nowhere near the 6500 RPM redline.

Re: Tachometer goes to 9? Why?

There is a calculation we could do to figure out what speed the car should be traveling at when fuel cut occurs at 6500 rpm. I believe someone did it back in the 90s (back in the yahoo days) and I want to say it was like 198 or something like that. Not that the car would go that fast, but that is actually the maximum speed the powertrain would turn the wheels.

As has been discussed on this forum many times before, none of the US market Svxi ever actually had any type of limiter or governer, FYI

Re: Tachometer goes to 9? Why?

I recently achieved "warp speed" after I inserted a Super Conducting bending magnet I stole from the Hadron Particle Super Collider, in Switzerland.

It fits nicely in the OEM plastic grill assembly and lights it up nicely.

Little warning though, make sure you have ZZZ rated tyres, capable of speeds over 100,000,000,000,000 Light Years Per Second.
