Re: Back from the Sandbox! Woohoo!
Thank you, and welcome home! I have a friend who is either over there now, or on his way over, not sure, and I have another friend who will probably be headed over there as soon as he's done with all his training, they're both Marines.

Re: Back from the Sandbox! Woohoo!
I suggest you find out for sure and get a mailing address. Getting mail on deployment is like a message from God. It doesn't matter how bad you day was the second you get a letter or a box you're smiling ear to ear and your whole day just turns around ....welll thats how it made me feel.

You're right and wrong. We're sending tons of reinforcments which should speed the process. However due to things like The Laws of War (which we're pretty much the only one's who follow) and people like ISAF 'International Security Assistance Force' aka I Suck At Fighting and yes even NATO. They enforce so many rules and regs on what we can and can't do in that country especially when it comes to dealing with the local populous whether it be some innocent farmer and his family or a detainie who was busted burrying IED's...I mean its just rediculous. I can't go into detail due to OPSEC, but we basically have too many restrictions on what we can f-up if you know what I'm saying. I think we can make a difference. We already have; thats the easy part. Its making a difference that is going to last that is the problem.

Re: Back from the Sandbox! Woohoo!
Ok I feel like ranting semi-off my own topic right now. its 4am in Hawaii.I have no idea why I am awake because I took 2 oxycodone and a vicodin. I had surgery 5 days ago because I am almost 26 yrs old and tired of being an A cup so I bought some boobies WOOHOO! I also bought some sexy rims and tires check them out
link to rims http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=8&vid=006494 and here are the tires http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=225 I'll post pics on my car once they get here in 2-4 weeks I should be totally passed out right now, but since my meds have had me in pretty much a coma for the past 5 days I can't sleep tonight. I also bought lots of pretty plants today because I love plants and they're good for the environment!

Re: Back from the Sandbox! Woohoo!
I am sure there are a few here who are older and can relate to that comment. All I have to say is Viet Nam -- we were in the same situation. Sent to fight by our country and then spat upon when we came home.

You're totally right. I think Viet Nam vets recieve the least amount of respect for what they had to sacrifice. Its really sad because they deserve so much for what they did and lost

Most wars get fought on two simultaneous levels or fronts; I think of them as the Blood and Thunder front and the Economic/Philosophic front that is fought back home to fund the military work. In the case of 'Nam there was an unusually bloody confrontation at the funding front. This was fuelled in part by a catharsis in society that was happening world wide in western economies. You are too young to remember it but there were riots or Ban the Bomb marches in university campuses all over the place, Paris, London, you name it. Viet Nam vets were identified with the Military Machine in this war for the hearts of the people, and it did not help I suppose that the war ended in a retreat. But as I see it in later years plenty of great movies on the subject set the story a little more straight as regards the boys who went where they were sent and did their duty. [and girls, of course, though I don't think they were as common in combat back then ]
