hey playboy, i know exactly what you mean, i get that same reflex when i see the stock bumper like yours. it's like what the heck were the subaru designers thinking trying to spy on FORD! i don't even think the bumper was designed by same people, being that the rest of the car is so unique and stylish and the front so blahhhhhhhhhh but that's just my opinion.XSFOTAULXSED911.jpg

Ford? close but again no cigar. let me ask you a few questions,
why the color?
hood pins? you packing something big under there?
little hump that molds into that horrific grill?
oh, and not to mention that you painted the spoiler the same color as the car, but left the trunk black?

sorry, i had to look at that spoiler pic again

I think you need to post on some LOW straight on front shots of the bumper (think from a cat point of view) so we can see the rest of the bumper. Let's see it from straight on, instead of these high up shots.

come on playboy, there is only 17 short posts on this thread. stop being lazy and read them for the scoop behind the hood locks. as for the color, yeah, it's different but if you don't like different you should have picked a '90 ford taurus after all it has that sweet front bumper you like.

i'll get some better pics up later this week, after she gets a bath.

I like the color, but I'm not a fan of the Apexi sticker, the different colored spoiler and hood pins.

Other than that it's pretty nice looking.

I actually like that the spoiler is a different color, as is the roof.

i cant stand looking at a painted 92-96 grill, ... should get a eurogrille or a jdm AWD grill, or keep it clear... but thats jsut my opinion (too used to my 97's i guess)

i dont much like hoodpins either but your reasoning makes sense. i just dont personally like them in general on any car.

i do like the color... whats it from?

i like how the spoiler is different than the roof/trunk, i may do that when i do my paint up

and the bumper is a nice subtle mod... any lower bumper work going to be done as well?

i made the color back when i worked at a body shop. it's super hard to get a good match scince i lost the formulation a few moves ago.

the apex stickers are going to go when i get some more paint for the rockers. i really would like to get theseAttachment 10127 or make them but my garage is too small for now.

i had to paint the grill, unpainted reminded me of a murcury sableAttachment 10128. i like the '97s grill, but it cost too much if you can even find them.

i think the painted spoiler makes the car look much sportier. when it was the same color as the trunk it was hard to tell it even had a spoiler at first glance, it just kinnda looked like the trunk was really tall.

as for lower lip work, i'd like to do some thing. i want some thing subtle, but honestly i haven't seen any design that sparks my intrest yet.

i'm pretty satisfied with looks for now, besides a couple or rock chips and blemishes i need to fix, also i should reshoot the black it's starting to fade.

my next project is the ride quality/comfort, it's time to sound dampen. i also want to find stiff sway bars as she has way too much roll now. has anyone found a good solution for the sway bars?

I like the colour, a very nice shade of yellow. Stands out as very visible and is an excellent safety feature.

The raised bumper centre would be ideal for front a number plate, as is required here and in many other places. Also logical in respect of the required repair.

Nothing overdone, and it is all your choice and if it pleases you to hell with the critics. Ebjoy.

I really like the color, but am I the only one that thinks that (from this angle) the bumper looks like the SVX has lips?
Paint them red, put a couple of cartoon eyes on the windshield and you car can star in the sequel to Pixar Cars.

Even though I'm not a fan of chrome wheels, I applaud the bold color and agree that a 1997 grille color matched would really make the front end stand out. I think that they're still available and around $140 from subaruparts.com

On a personal note the yellow centre grill is not my thing, and the hood pins cheapen the overall effect, but if you like them, that's OK with me.

Very cool and individual. Enjoy your motor.

thanx.

yeah, it wasn't a matter of likeing hood locks, not really my thing either. just a function over fashion thing, but way better than buying new audio equipment every year and fixing that crazy expensive and hard to change out dash those little f'ers kept breaking.
side note, i've been break in free scince the hood locks, knock on wood...

I like it allot. The yellow is great, but could you paint the hood locks to match? They really detract from the overall appeal of the car.
