I will try to find it at my WalMart. I have not seen it there before.
My headlights were the usual - somewhat yellow and really foggy but I never got a photo of them. I would always buff them with a bluemagic metal polish before pictures but that would wear off after a couple of weeks (sooner or later depending on how much I washed my car).

It's been about 9-10 months (from May) since I used the CV Permanent Headlight Cleaner kit on my car and so far they look the same as when I first applied the kit. I only did it on the outside of the lense (I know some people want to do the inside as well) but they still look really nice. So I don't see a reason to go through the hassle of doing the inside lense by baking, and possibly cracking, my headlights.
If you want more examples of how my headlights look now: click here to see my album

In you "Album" you have pictures of your center caps with the SVX on them. Do you sell them like that? Do you do them if I send you a set? If not, do you have a "how to"?

hehe, I don't sell them. I just liked svxcess' so much, I decided to do it myself. Its just a spray can of primer, silver paint, and clear cloat - plus the 4 decals. I think it cost me about $20 for everything.

I have been planning on writing up a little How To with the pictures I took.
I ordered the SVX decals from nascarjunkie off ebay. I forgot what size I requested, so I'll have to check my emails. I sanded the caps down, filled the "Subaru" part in with bondo, then sanded them again. After that I primed and sanded the caps several more times. Followed by several coats of silver paint and clear coat. Finally, I apply the decals. John told me that putting the decal under the clear coat would cause the decal to curl and mess up so you want to put it on top of everything. It appears to be holding strong with no problems.

I don't mind doing them for anyone else, as long as they paid for supplies.

I re-cleaned my lights toady, I used my trusty MicroMark polishing kit. Starting with 3200grit & ending with 12,000 grit sanding cloths. Then I added a special ingredient for that "show car shine"
Before:

After:

My special ingredient is Future Floor Wax. We'll see how it lasts. Worst case, I have to wash it off with ammonia.

I even did it with my Legacy's NASTY yellow lights

Hey guys,

I tried this and it seemed to work

I sanded mine with the autozone kit. I used wax to seal it. The wax i used was the Orange Bottle 'Once a year Car Polish" that we see on infomercials. it has been through chicago winter. And i have reapplied only 3 times. I will keep you posted.

Also,

I was contemplating to grind, clear coat, and polish. I remember 3M used to sell a Film that used to go on the nose of the car like a bra. Its clear and tough. Removable too. I used to have it on my Honda pocket rocket to protect the paint and Did what it was supposed to do. I will find the link.

The film chipped but it took a lot.

I sanded and then applied clear-coat. It looks great so far; we'll have to see how it lasts (though mine were more pitted than yellowed). One month and no problems.

Looks great. I was saving up for clear headlights, but I'm thinking I'll give this a try first and save a chunk of change.

I like the film too. I wish the previous owner had used it on the front edge of my hood. Oh, well a repaint is planned. You can get that stuff in sheets from most any motorcycle supplier.

Earlier in the post someone mention condensation in the taillights. Anyone have a trick to get rid of that? Or maybe a link to another post?

You seals or gaskets are gone on the lights. You can replace them, but don't over tighten them or they will leak again. Some members have drilled holes on the bottom of the lights, but I don't like that idea. You trunk can fill with water if the gaskets are bad as well. Good luck with the project.

Thanks. I should have figured, everything else leaks a little. The tightening tip is a good point. Wouldn't it be great if they just used real silicone gaskets straight from the factory? Anybody know someone who sells aircraft grade silicone gaskets either for the SVX or custom made?

Re: New Headlight Cleaning kit

I just finished cleaning my headlights using the 3M Headlight Restoring System. It worked the same as the other kits mentioned, various sandpaper grits and polish, but it did not include any sealer. My headlights are now crystal clear and better than I expected, but what sealer products are you guys using? I want them to stay this beautiful.

My caps were filled by Mike Novosel "nubs" after I saw his center caps at Reading II or III.

Basically I think he roughed up the SUBARU wording around the edges and filled in with some sort of epoxy filler, building it higher than the top of the cap. He then sanded them down smooth and sprayed them with automotive primer.

When I had my wheels powdercoated by Transwheel, I sent them the center caps and they sprayed them with a matching acrylic lacquer and clearcoat.

When I got them back I added the SVX logo that I had computer-cut in silver vinyl. Depending on the light source they appear and disappear.

They have been on my daily driver since 2002.
