SVX Prices in Canada

It’s been my experience that the SVX commands a substantially higher price in Canada than it does in the States. I think it's cheaper to buy from the States - even after paying currency exchange, duty, GST, PST and (depending on location) freight, Registrar of Imported Vehicles fee, cost of modification and Federal and Provincial inspection fees. What's more, there's not many for sale in Canada.

When I bought my first SVX (from Texas) I found the processes for importing and getting the car registered and licensed in Canada to be quite intimidating but then I found the site riv.ca. It’s very helpful. My second SVX (from Salt Lake City) was much easier because I was familiar with the process.

So if you’re thinking about importing an SVX into Canada, take a look at the site. If you get stuck, PM me and I’ll see if I can help.

I agree. I brought mine up from Cali. That RIV web site made it easier. The prices of most cars are cheaper down US side.

Finally a good price in Canada. I just picked up a 92 svx in decent shape for $2,000. Has a fresh rebuilt tranny, (the seller owns a tranny shop and got the car cheap - had a bad tranny- ironic isn't it?) good windshield, solid body and decent interior. Little high on the mileage 270km's but as everyone knows I am after the tranny. There may be a fresh supply of used Canadian Parts soon. Stay posted.

You aren't going to part it are you? You may want to keep that one and sell the other one to someone wanting a good 5 spd project.

Sorry, have to tear the tranny out. My car has 90k less, has a nicer interior and all the options like heated seats. Have to fix what is going to be the better car. But if you think in reverse I could sell this one to someone who wants a 5 spd project.

What is wrong with it? (other than the soon-to-be lack of tranny)

From what I cen see, there is a little rust bubbling on the right rear qtr panel just above the tire, it does have 270k with a value tick, the interior is nice but tired. No body damage but the antenna is missing. The leather is starting to show wear even tho there is no rips or tears. The guy says the CD player kicks out cd's every once in a while for no reason. I am picking it up tonight and will get a better look.

I thought these Zinc'd bodies do not rust? Well I guess you guys do have the harsher climates. You guys saw my post about the Japan Import coming to Van next Tuesday for $7K ? Only 64K on the clock. I guess that 12K one that is standard is like this 7K one + 5K for the Tranny job.

My car had body work done to that panel which compromised the zinc coating. Once that happens rust can and will form.
