I was comparing the prices on top of the line models. I can get a base FXT for under 22K at dealers in Northern VA. The FXT still runs 3-4K cheaper than the LGT. The LGT is designed to be more luxurious and upscale...

Both Car & Driver and Road & Track got curb weights in the low 3400lb range for the 5MT version of the 2.5GT. The FXT 5sp does come in at ~3200lbs which is less than the STI...

msrp base price for fxt premium is 27,395 compared to 28,595 for lgt limited. that's only 1200 shekels. both models sell for almost msrp in colorado.

Foresters don't sell as well - so Subaru offers more rebates on that model (including FXT). They currently have a $2,000 rebate special. Most dealers on the East coast knock off ~$1,500 from MSRP and the rebate is added onto that.

Most rebates on the Legacy are for the 2.5i models...

$2500 = Cobb stage2.5, painted sport grille replica, and painted side spats.

i could say the same here. i've been pretty pleased with the dealer i bought both legacys and teh forester from. but unless the dealership i bought the svx from had another one with only 8024 miles on it, i wouldn't piss on it, if it were on fire.

the dealer i bought our WRX from, and was 10-15 minutes away, on my way to work, and not far from the subway line, moved across town.

heh heh heh....

FXT got the 4.44 gearing, so its probably about equal anyways as far as performance. i wonder why they can get more out the LGT 2.5 though?
Alan,

I was doing a little digging about that 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds claim by Cobb for their Stage 2 package and it seems higly unlikely with an increase to just 305hp.

Here are threads on legacygt.com discussing Stage 2 1/4 mile times:

(stage 2) http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10669

(heavily modded stage 2) http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showt...ighlight=stage

Besides Cobb, Vishnu Tuning is one of the most respected tuners in the industry. They offer ECU flash packages for both the Legacy 2.5GT and FXT. All of the performance times Vishnu posts are actual times that have been accomplished.

The V300 power package is offered for the 2.5GT:

http://www.vishnutuning.com/legacy_v300.htm

Their estimated gains are 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and the standing ¼ mile in 13.9 seconds at 100mph.

The V280 power package is offered for the FXT:

http://www.vishnutuning.com/forrester_v280.htm

Their estimated gains are 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and the standing ¼ mile in 13.5 seconds at 100mph.

Needless to say, an FXT can still have a power deficit against a 2.5GT and still be much faster.

Another thing you need to remember that these estimates are all for 5MT 2.5GT's and FXT's. The 5EAT versions run roughly 0.3-0.4 seconds slower...
