Hey, I might just buy them! The new Legacy uses 4 pot calipers on the front if I'm not mistaken - 2 pistons on each side of caliper.

Thumbs up This is an example of 1/4 mile times...

...that a relatively lightly modded FXT would do in the 1/4 mile in non-ideal 81* heat!

Legacy GT stage2 : Combine the revolutionary AccessPORT, the Perrin catless downpipe, catless up-pipe of your choice and experience 0-60 in about 4.7 seconds while running stage 2 map. Up-pipe adds quicker turbo spool times at lower RPM, while the downpipe offers improvement in the midrange and high RPM horsepower and torque curve. $1159 - $1189, depending on up-pipe.

Legacy GT stage2½ : Combine AccessPORT, Perrin catless downpipe, up-pipe of your choice with Perrin or COBB crank pulley. You will experience quicker spool up times accross the entire power range, higher peak boost and the pulley for improved engine response and acceleration. $1285 - $1360, depending on up-pipe.

FXT Cobb Stage 2 Power Package (280 HP) torque not given?

LGT Cobb Stage 2 Power Package (305 HP / 345 lb-ft)

heh heh heh....

FXT got the 4.44 gearing, so its probably about equal anyways as far as performance. i wonder why they can get more out the LGT 2.5 though?

Isn't this where Rob would chime in and mention that with a few inexpensive upgrades the SRT4 would walk all over that Forester XT?

Oh well, That's a fast Forester! My best was 13.1 in my dad's 69 Nova SS.

The 2.5GT and FXT have a similar turbo'd 2.5L engine, but the two vehicles are completely different. For one, the Legacy 2.5GT is rated at 250hp while the FXT is rated at just 210hp (closer to 235hp). Also, the 2.5GT is equipped nicely at 30K while the FXT can go almost fully loaded for 26K. That's a 4K disparity...

Another thing that's deceiving is the weight - 305hp in a 3500lb car with 4.11's is not going to haul like 280hp in a 3200lb car with 4.44's...

I'm a member on legacygt.com like yourself as I admire that car greatly. Do a search on there for 'Forester XT'. Every time there's been a thread about racing one at the dragstrip with similar mods (stock vs stock, etc.) the FXT always comes out on top!

Check this thread out:

It only gets better. This is a thread where a guy went 13.6 beating an EVO MR in the process:

http://www.subaruforester.com/viewtopic.php?t=10612

In that same thread, Radguy posts a slip of his 13.5 run on the stock turbo with just a short list of bolt-ons (HKS Uppipe, Bellmouth catless 3" Downpipe, AccessPort, Bosal 3" Catback with 3" Dynomax Bullet, STI rear swaybar, Autometer boost guage):

i got mine for $25k with upgraded alarm sys, armrest extension, dimming compass mirror, winter mats, spoiler, body-colored door mouldings, and 5EAT Sportshift. i didn't want the Limited for the added weight of the sunroof (never use it in the SVX), and power leather seats. with the wife probably driving it more (she hated the stebro'd SVX, and complained about the visibility ), its a lot quicker to adjust the seats manually.

LGT 5EAT - 3365lbs
FXT manual - 3225lbs

that's only 140lbs difference. i'll just quit eating so much pizza. nah, screw that - i love pizza!
