See? Now you're thinking rationally.

I hate suv's, but the XT doesn't really feel like one when you drive it. Especially after a simple sway bar upgrade. Plus there is plenty of room for stuff in it. And they are still very fast even with the 4eat. The sleeper factor is awesome.

The other cute-ute's - blech. Don't do it. Bad Landshark. You might as well buy a minivan and grow old.

The legacy GT is very nice. Simple upgrades seem to make them pretty quick too. I can't believe the aftermarket hasn't responded somehow to the radio issue.

STI - I'd love to get one. But I couldn't rationalize getting an STI and keeping both svx's. If only you could shoehorn that motor into an svx....

You did forget option 5 - drop your svx off with longassname for a supercharger. It would be the cheapest option of them all and it would be very exclusive. Would you even be thinking about trading the svx if it were almost as fast as your old shark?

yeah, but in addition to the performance and utility aspect of it, i still want a car that i enjoy looking at. some peeps think the STi is ugly, but it keeps me staring. the XT would definitely be an excellent second car, though. who knows - i will still take one out for a test drive, and its still in consideration.

that option would be for the wife, not me. she would get a cute-ute and i would take her WRX.

i really like the Leg GT - the 5EAT with Sportshift is nice, and the wife wouldn't complain about the bone-jarring STi suspension. she thinks the WRX is a little rough, but i guess i always liked and was used to a stiff suspension. only problem is, the Leg GT is the same price as an STi - and that's WITHOUT the Limited package. Big Brembo's, HID's, and DCCD make the STi more appealing to me at the same price.
its gonna be hard for the aftermarket to do anything, because the stereo and climate control share the same circuit board! i did see a solution recently that used a JDM bezel to mount an aftermarket radio in the upper cubby, and left the stock stereo in place (but inoperative.) if it wasn't for that stereo B.S., there might be a GT in my driveway right now.

not to knock anyone that going to do it, but i can't see sinking $5000 or more (+ labor - i know i wouldn't try to tackle that install myself!) into an 8 year old car with an unproven (no disrespect to longassname) supercharger upgrade. will it be snapping axles? will the tranny hold? will the engine explode? if i did that, i would want to upgrade brakes and suspension, too, and there's several more thousand dollars. if i wanted to fuss with cars all the time, i'd get another 928 and a winter beater. besides, i feel like getting something a little different. i will always love the SVX, and miss it alot when its eventually leaves. it is the most dependable car i've ever owned, and made driving home from work in some bad late night snowstorms fun instead of nerve-wracking.

i am still torn between teh legacy, which i eventually purchased, and the forester. we got 2 feet of snow on sunday, hubby took the jeep and left me with the svx. if i'd have had the forester and not the legacy, it would have been a no-brainer. i know everyone says teh is fastAr, but i have to believe this is comparison is stick vs. stick. the 5eat w/ sportshift is truly amazing. i drove a manual for my whole life until the svx. with my stop-and-go highway commute, i don't think i'd ever go back to shifting for a daily a driver again (unless it wasn't a subaru). plus, the hill holder clutch in the forester drove me nuts. i'm now off on a tangent. what was teh question again?

Shadow NOT recommending i get some sort of GM instead!!1!!1!!1!!

i probably will go for teh STi, even if i regret it later while i'm sitting in traffic.

after three black cars in a row, i can safely say i'm done with black cars, even though the STi looks pretty menacing in black. the wife's WRX is Platinum silver metallic, and ALWAYS looks clean. you have to be 1 foot away to even tell if its dirty or not. its a beautiful color, too, that picks up lots of reflections - looks especially neat as the sun is setting on it.

no more "wash it, and it looks like hell two days later with swirly marks" black for me!

i love silver cars! my second car was a 1987 silver chevy nova. that thing never looked dirty. for some strange reason, i haven't had once since. mostly because i either bought a used car or it wasn't available. teh legacy is the only exception.
