Some work done

I have been without svx for the last week and am picking it up this morning with a price tag of $3000 in repairs....glad i'm in a car family!

New shocks & brakes and various other replaced parts. Just in time for cruise on the 10th. I'm looving this hot weather (31 today!) and ended up a bit burnt over the weekend. Does everyone want to drive to Newcastle on the 10th or should we head to the blue mountains for a change? Also, my email wasn't working last week so i still haven't sent the new svx guy Matt this address so will do now!

Don't worry - if you knew how much I had to pay for two brand new sun visors (yes - you can still get them!)..............

Question Sunvisors - how much

hey Jason how much did you end up paying for them and did you get them thru Subaru...my green car's visor are perfect but my red ones got a bad passenger droop !!...also if you interested and you got cloudy headlight lenses a wrecker i was dealing with up here said he can do a replacement headlight for $150 a piece, apparently a needed service for roadwothy when 2nd hand dealers are selling SVX, I haven't seen one of these 'replacements' but my red car again has 'fogged' lenses, and my green cars on the other hand a jewel like, so I've been considering this as well, if I don;t sell her in the mean time and noew that my bank balance is recouperating {spell?}..

Yes - I did buy them new from my local Subaru Spare Parts outlet, and they cost me about.............................

...............are you sitting down?

................$350..........EACH!!!!

The driver's side visor was actually in stock at Subaru's main Australian parts warehouse!

.........but the passenger side visor had to be ordered from Japan.

When comparing the original visors to the new ones, it is immediately apparent that Subaru changed the design of the hinge mechanism to prevent drooping.

More importantly however, they also changed the manner in which the illuminated vanity mirror wiring is routed through the hinge, and it appears that this will indeed prevent the wiring from splitting and shorting out. (this happened to both of my original visors!!)

Now..............who wants to buy a pair of used SVX sun visors?

I should point out that my original visors did NOT droop, but I thought that I should get new ones - while they were still available!!!!

Thankfully - my headlights are just as clear as they were when my SVX rolled off the assembly line!

.......and now my sun visors are just as good too!

I coped being svxless by driving my mums merc- svx is so much better! I did feel like quite the young exec though...and i have to admit errrr mums car is faster (but nowhere near as sleek and head turning as svx!)

The other new thing on my car was the front drive shaft. I'm happy for a blue mountains run

What model of Mercedes was it?

I recently drove my father's C200 - talk about UNDERPOWERED!!!

It weighs roughly the same as an SVX, but it only has a 100kw 2.0 litre 4-cylinder!

As well - the throttle response is SHOCKING! I had to push the accelerator about halfway down before anything happened!!!

.............my father tells me that all mercs are like that!!
