Numbing Buzz

Hi Listers,

I just subbed to this forum. I own a 92 SVX, bought in 95, 100K miles on it by now. I do my own maintenance.

From the start the car has been plagued with some high frequency buzz in the gas pedal. This buzz can litterally burn a hole through my foot. The pedal comes to feel like red-hot iron. When it gets real bad (worse in cold weather) I need to drive with the help of the cruise control.

Any idea of what can be wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Andre St-Pierre
Yamachiche, QC.

I've heard that this type of problem could be a blown C.V. boot, but I'm not exactly sure. You migt try using the search feature for more advice on this issue.
By the way, welcome to the network.

Check the routing of your throttle cable in the engine bay, it may be routed wrong, allowing it to rub against something that would cause the vibration, especially if it's rubbed through the rubber coating on the cable.

Just something to look at.

I intermittently have a mild buzz, hadn't worried about it until I read this post.

I've experienced a mild buzz many times in the past but it is always after a few beers or adult beverages.

Mine's when I have my stereo too loud.

What's a CV boot?
All I know is that it's a boot that keeps dirt and grime out of you're CV joint. But I really don't know what the hec I'm talking about.

When mine went out, I didn't experience a vibration.
