"92 problem" - Evoscan help please!

Ok, so I tried to connect with evoscan for the first time last night...and no luck, I tried all kinds of different settings in the software.

I've heard of a "92 problem" with datalogging and such...anybody care to shed any light on this. I'm aware it's not a problem with only 92 model year cars, but that is what I have. Anybody know what the fix is? Or perhaps there's some configuration info that needs to be added to evoscan? I'm having a hard time finding any information about using it on the SVX. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the latest version of evoscan, and bought the proper cable for our cars directly from them. One thing I noticed is that the cable only has 3 pins on the connector for our cars, whereas some plans I've seen to make a cable uses 4 of the pins. Not sure if that's a factor, but I would think the evoscan people would know what they're doing.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

The 3-pin cable is correct. The USB design doesn't need to be powered by the car, so the power cable is omitted.

You need to replace Evoscan's Data.xml file with the one on this page:

http://www.alcyone.org.uk/ssm/download.html

Then you should be able to get it working. If not then refer to the troubleshooting page to see if you really do have the 92 problem:

Hey, thanks so much! I'll have to try that out tonight.

Your website has been infinitely helpful to me already, (if a bit technical from a n00b standpoint) I guess I must have missed the downloads page. By the way, I have been working on hammering out a much more comprehensive RomRaider XML. I'll perhaps post up a copy when I've had some more time to play around with it and know that I've gotten everything right and working.

I was also working on writing a configuration file for TunerPro...haven't gotten very far with that yet, been too busy working on the turbo project to mess with the ECU stuff much lately.
