stock trans is dying, need advice on swap

Alright my stock 92 trans has lost drive and 3rd gear. I did a transmission service 800 miles ago when it started to slip in drive at random times on the highway. When on a 750 mile drive this weekend and about half way into the trip I lost drive and on the way back I lost 3rd. had to drive the car 75-90 mph in second gear for 250+ miles.

Anyhow I have a 4.11 trans and rear diff out of a 97 legacy wagon and my questions for yall are:

1. Are the legacy axle stubs the same diameter and spline count as the SVX?
2. rear output shaft spline count and size the same legacy and SVX?
3. Which computer will I need to use legacy or svx?
4. Is there anything else I need to know about doing this swap?

Thanks in advance guys

You have to swap the rear diff LSD carrier into the 4.11 Rear diff to use the SVX axles

Thanks in advance guys
hope this helps

1. yes
2. yes
3. svx
4. read the instructions in "SVXfiles" signature for instructions on modifying the rear diff. It is labeled for 4.44, but the procedure is the same.

Re: stock trans is dying, need advice on swap

ahhh no worries then. I put a VLSD in my 3.9 rear diff on my lifted wagon.

well good, time to get the parts tranny/diff and and call up my old boss and see if I can rent my old stall at the shop. I think I'll do this one with a lift instead of bench pressing it up into the car.

Is the SVX Flexplate any thicker since its higher hp/tq? Or should I use the newer legacy flexplate?

No thicker (I don't believe) but check the Legacy Torque converter, as some of them have a different bolt pattern to the flex plate, in which case you'd need to use the Legacy one
