5-Speed Kits!!

I got an email the other day from Brian at smallcar.com announcing the avaliability of a five-speed conversion kit for about $3,000.. I'm thrilled that I'll have the oppurtunity to do this swap myself one day and be provided with everything i'll need. If anyone buys one of these kits, please post a step-by-step!!

Also, do you think that once it was installed, it would be easy to put a short-throw shift kit in? All you'd have to do is find a kit for a legacy or impreza, right? it's all the same transmision.. I suppose space might be an issue.. oh well, I'm rambling

yea i called him last week for the same kit, before deciding just to have mine rebuilt..

2,900$ still seems steep in price especially whene huck and few others have done it for half that price,

But Huck and others didn't have to charge for their time spent searching boneyards for low milage trannies, Their time fabricating brackets, tracking down oddball parts, etc. Smallcar is also are including options like the 4.11 gear and a taller 5th that would be very time consuming to track down.

I think its a great price. When I'm ready to do a 5 speed swap, I'll be giving them a call.

Looks like everything is there except the longer propeller shaft. Right?
They even rebuild the rear diff in this kit!

What about the connection for the speed-o cable is that included also?

If I had the money I would go out to Seattle, buy an SVX from that dealer Joe Spitz out there and then get the 5spd put in while spending the month of June skiing on Mt Hood

Now you're making sense! On second thought, forget the car stuff and let's do June and July.

But after skiing I could drive back to the east coast in 5 speed SVX

Now that would be a great ending to a fine vacation
