The dreaded drooping sunvisor!!!!!!
OK so can anyone let me know how to fix a passenger side drooping sunvisor? It is driving me crazy. I do not want to damage the fabric, so therefore do not want to use double sided velcro etc. What are the cures for this annoying problem? AAAARRRGGGHHH

I wedged the plastic halves of a Cialis capsule onto the visor rollers. The visor stayed up for 4 hrs. than died toally

double sided velcro
my red car's previous owner has put a piece of of this tape from the visor to the hoodliner, its about 3 in long and 1/2 in wide...does the job but looks ugly...most people who get in say hey whats this ..then oops ..sorry...as it just misses them
I asked my wife the other day when she was in the car as she's very handy with craft stuff, about putting a velcro patch or two between the visor and the roof, so as you push the visor up it sticks..will let you know when we experiment D2 Oz

Velcro - no
Tried Velcro, it pulled down the headliner. I fashioned a little clip/wedge out of a section of wire coat hanger which I have stuffed into the door trim and 'swivel' it backwards and forwards to catch the corner of the visor.
Not real pretty, but functional.

I believe only Subaru have the problem that extends this far.
In most models of cars you can tighten the hinge of the sunvisor, but I think you'll find that if you don't want to put any patches or the like on your car, you'll probably have to buy a new sunvisor. I had the same problem with a 91 subaru liberty, and they had the same or very similar mechanism. Paulie. |

One would think that for the not so small initial outlay for an SVX, that this little problem would have been ironed out? I find it difficult to believe that Subaru do not know of this problem and have not worked out a workable solution without their customers going to the expense of a completely new visor, which will probably suffer the same fate.
Isn't it funny how those seemingly insignificant things tend to bug us the most? Like the fading red plastic bits that we can't seem to buff up or out (huh David!). Oh well- I might try slipping and gluing a small magnet inside the headliner and do the same for the visor- in an inconspicuous spot of course. Mark. |

absolutely right about stupid thigs that could/should have been ironed out...
sunvisor ...just dum surely from 91 intro by 93/4 someone in Japan or anywhere must have started noticing the auto sun block visors... OR windows ...the self scratching 'auto' windows..design a better window guide/or window rubber for Bjesus sakes...but also make sure the glass is damned expensive to replace should the hapless owner try to outsmart the dirty guides...on a +ve note though I got Subaru to clean all my window guides ..then had the windows buffed $80 aside ..Subaru - workshop charge $50..and so far so good..the window guy explained that scratching windows is a common problem [ta !!] and that when washing ease window rubber back wash the inside contact area with soapy sponge and then flush liberally with water [hose] [again holding the rubber back..kind of slide youtr finger along [don't blast it..goodnees knows where that water will go]..but certainly flush..when I washed mine for the first time I couldn't get over the dirty water that flushed up along the glass...doing this should ensure the guides don't collect the crap off your window when dry and accumulate then start scratching...so far so good ...scratches can't be totally buffed, but when clean and dry it looks pretty good...deep scratches may not buff out..so you'll see those 'glinting' in the light .. Hungry CD player ? - yes when its hot..doesn't take much ..won't let you eject the CD..when its cool no problem..something to do with newer materials used for CDs [thinner/thicker - originals or burned - 2 cars same years 95s same problem] ..a bit like some of the newer credit cards ..the thickness of the plastic changed..which caused some EFtpos machines not to be able to read them [eg. in Oz 2003+ issued CBA cards]..now that I figured that out just work around it.. Auto dimming headlights - yes progressively go foggy overtime, I know a guy in BrisVegas has offered a service of changing out the headlights [SVXs] for like new .." that'll pass insurance/rego inspection" for $150 a piece..pricey but its done and should be good for a couple of years...I'll look at this down the track when I need it. Hey David, the foggy headlights, the hungry CD player, the scratched windows, the droopy sunvisor....are you sure you and I don't share the same car? And you say you own a red '95? There is something spooky going on here (start the twilight zone music).

Southern Drooping Visors
Haven't noticed this problem on Queensland cars though.
Must be that with all the "Sunshine" up here that we just leave them down all the time. Unlike Southern States were you have them up and down about 10 times a day Kenn |
