Significant Technical Input
All in fun -

Uh....good manners precludes me from saying "Flip the map over for him on his way back - he's from WV, ya know."

* I know I'm gonna burn for that one *

Hope y'all have a good meet!

p.s. When's the Micco seafood festival?

Smile

Yes, Lee, Don will appreciate it if you pass him a new rim. Seems he hits a lot of petrified road kill in West Virginny.
Also tell Don & Jean "Cheers" from me & tell Don to stay Focused.

Ron.

Thumbs up all done

Just dropped them off, they are on their way to Ponce Inlet and the lighthouse there.

Did pass along the "hellos".

Beav, I told him to flip the map - I did attribute it to you, but I left out the it's because you're from WV part - still got a chuckle, but since I said it just before they drove away, it might sink in and be trouble for you yet.

Ron, don't have any extra wheels about or I would have taken one for the joke value alone. So far, on this trip anyway, he hasn't bent another rim. His SVX seems to be doing well.

We toured in my daughters car (4-door Lexus) for convenience of entry/exit, so they never got to see my car, but when you've seen one black SVX, you've seen them all - only diff between his and mine is I have the spoiler.

Nice people, glad I was able to get them to see the Cape Canaveral lighthouse. The area is closed to the general public and they seem to be on a 'visit lighthouses vacation' tour.

They did tell me they met up with Solar, Sat nite in Orlando, and seemed happy to be able to meet fellow SVXers as they travel.

Unfortunately for their camera, they did get me to pose with them once, so maybe on his return we'll see some pics of their trip.

This, no doubt, is so he can brag to fellow West Virginnyites that while on vacation, he rubbed elbows with a lot of bright people in high places.

Ron (enlightened).

I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the illumination.

Enlightened....

We are back home safely tonight after a wonderful trip!

First, it was great to meet James (solarsvx) and have a nice dinner and conversation on Saturday night. He has a nice silver SVX with some awesome 18in alloy wheels. He drew us a great map to help us find our hotel with no problem. We hope to be back down next year, and hope to meet up with you again; thanks James!

Lee gave us a SUPER tour of the Cape Canaveral complex Monday morning; the lighthouse and all the historic launch facilities. We got to see where the Mercury an Gemini launches were made, but it is sad to see how they have fallen into disrepair. Thanks again Lee so much for taking one of your vacation days to show us around; we really enjoyed and appreciated it!

You Florida SVX'ers need to get together and have a Meet down there somewhere!

I will post more tomorrow, I gotta get some rest!!!!
Happy New Year everyone!!!!! Don

------------------------

PS...Thanks for the map tip Beav, but we figured it out on our own. Well...Jean did anyway. She said if I continued the way I was going, we were going to end up in Central America somewhere....

Rice Civic vs. SuperRu

I just need to mention this one....

Jean and I were heading to our motel in Orlando after having dinner with solarsvx, and I found myself in a lane that ended just a few hundred feet beyond a stop light. All the lanes to my left were full and the one beside me was occupied by a young man with a typical rice-rocket Civic....big wheels, big wing, bazooka exaust. He eyed me and knew I was basically trapped in that lane if he could stay with me when the light changed. Now I have not babied my tranny to nearly 160k by playing stoplight drag racer, but heck...I was on vacation, and I needed to be in that other lane real bad. One advantage was that I was closer to the cross street lights and could actually see inside the lens covers and see what ones were on. I put one foot on the brake and brought the revs up slightly and timed the light almost perfectly. (Don Garlits would have approved) The Civic literally SCREAMED off the line.....he must have had something more than a fancy exaust....but it was too late. I pulled a full car length ahead by the time the lane ended, flashed my signals and slotted in just ahead of him. He was all over my bumper like a cheap suit, but no matter....the next exit was his; he pulled right and went on his way but didn't seem like a happy camper. Jean's eyes were VERY wide....but so was my smile! Don
