Those were some good suggestions, Kelli. But I might have to disagree with you on the fish. The smaller the tank, the harder they are to take care of (up to a point, of course - the Shedd Aquarium being way on the opposite end of that spectrum ). The little one- and two-gallon tanks you get at WalMart for $20 are vute, but keeping the water healthy for the fish is a pain in the ass!

actually if you get a chinese fighter fish, they come in a special tank that is a plant on top and the fish inside. there is no cleaning of the tank because the roots and fish keep it clean and no feeding because the fish eats the stuff off the roots. you can get those at walmart for like 25 bucks, just put it in an area so that the plant can photosynthesize.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Thumbs up nice topic

I lucked out this year, I didn't have to think to much about what I was getting. Platnum/ diamond engagement ring, which also means i'm pretty much covered for her birthday in 3 weeks.
For $25, you have to be creative...I should know i'm pretty poor. You can do flowers, make a cd, stuffed animal, etc.
I've found devoting a day to her is always a plus, make sure you have a nice dinner...if you can cook something yourself it means more...
One of the best nights I had with my wife to be was when we took the svx out of town in the country and checked out the stars and enjoyed each others company...
anyway, i'm sure i didn't help much, but I found it's more important to do something that she'll remember for a long time

Oh, those little Betta tanks. Yeah, I've heard of those, but never actually seen one. They sound kinda cool.

I have a spare ten-gallon tank in the house, and I've been tempted to keep fish on my desk. I just haven't decided yet that it'd be worth the work. Plus, I aready need three power strips to run eveything on my desk, and an aquarium would mean a fourth. Plus, all those power cords with ten gallons of water around...I've been electrocuted enough, thanks.

Xmas for the better half

To be honest I haven't gotten the SVX anything yet. Probably a full tank of gas, fuel injector cleaner and an oil change. Honestly I'm not sure how a fish would work for an SVX. Too hot in the summer I'd think and the winter. You'd have to park in a heated garage.

There's some web site where fish people claim that those fish with the plant on top are actually carnivores, so they can't eat the plant, but it just takes them a really long time to starve. ????

I usually head to victoria's secret online store and hit the sales section - you usually drop the price by at least 50% there and I've never had a complaint with those gifts.
This year she'sgetting a dell 400mhz pocket PC and a diamond/tanzanite ring.

The most romantic gift yet has to be the spoiler I got her for her svx for her birthday this year.

Anything from bath and body works should be great

throw in a poem too and add these lines.

"The suede in my SVX is smooth with its fabric and such
But not even that compares to your warm gentle touch

I thought the SVX would be my only true love
but thank god for sending you, up from above "

LOL...

how about a bowling ball with your name on it, so she can think of you?

actually, for $25, get bubblebath, candles, massage lotion. do it all up and put one of your "relaxing mixes" on the stereo. you may get a gift, afterwards, too. women are so easy.

hmmmm... battery operated perhaps?

just so you know, you actually do need to feed them. Theyseldom eat the roots, and if theydo it has no nutrition. You also need to change the water at least once a month.
