Misc Ramblings

I am writing this to express my disappointment with the large amount of posts on this site about political feelings.
I feel that there is too much discussion and opinions about president Bush (pro & con), gay marriage, the war in Iraq, etc., etc.

I think this is a "car" site, dedicated to a particular car; and many of the political agenda posts, whether they are funny or serious, have no place here.
If you have nothing to say about SVXes, or genreral automotive items, please don't post your political opinions, just so you can post. Take into account how other members may react to what is in any of your posts. Try not to step on people's toes. God knows our society today is all about sensationalism for its own sake. IMHO, we don't need that here.

You can always post about sports teams, if that is your inclination. Or you can humorously jibe other members (me included) about their personal foibles.

There, I got that off my chest. Let's all try to be a little more civil.

Thanks for listening.

For the most part the political debates are limited to the newly created political forum. To me, the political discussion has no more or less of a place here than most of the Not Exactly SVX section. If someone does not want to read it, they don't need to, and if someone wants to pick on someone, they are going to whether or not it is fueled by a political debate (although politics usually provides an easier target).

"I would like to make a request. We started this forum "Not Exactly SVX" so members could discuss topics that were not only about the SVX. That is what it is all about. Just like families, we sometimes need or want to discuss other things that interest us. BUT, it seems that some members feel that it is a place to start arguments, or force their own agendas onto others.

I would like to ask you to keep your threads to discussions that are "not over the edge". and not done in a negative way. I am not pointing my finger at anyone, but would like you to consider this as you post. As usual, if a threat gets too bad, it will be moderated. I am not here to censor, but to moderate. When members report threads to me, I look into them and will respond in a proper manner for the good of the order.

Thank You for your cooperation."

i am glad the Political Forum was created (thanks Mike ), so that all the political garbage won't be finding its way into the other important OT threads, such as "Thread for posting useless $#&@!", "Alien Found in Duck", and "Monkey gets into Robotics and becomes lazy".

Larry, you realize that it is not required to click on the button that leads to the Poitical Forum, no? it seems to me that you would be better off just sticking to the General SVX Forums, and the problem is solved.

for example, i do not care for Lifetime or Country Music Television channels on my TV, so i just don't watch them.

threads dealing with sports teams can become just as inflammatory (or more so) than political threads. for the most part, i'd say folks keep it fairly civil on there - if its too much for sensitive eyes, don't look.

Yes.

@topic - I think the political forum is pretty good for building camaraderie. I'm adult enough to not hold grudges or think less of others just because their political views are flawed.

Let's sing along now.....

I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
And everything is alright
I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door
I didn't mean to cause a big scene
Just wait 'til I finish this glass
Then sweet little lady
I'll head back to the bar
And you can kiss my ass

(sometimes Country isn't all that bad )

Guess I was too subtle, since I was actually imagining a few other folks around here singing that verse. If anything, the chorus applies better to me:

'Cause I got friends in low places,
Where the Whiskey drowns,
And the Beer chases my blues away,
But I'll be okay,
Now I'm not big on social graces,
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis,
Oh I got friends,
In low places.

I don't know that I have ever been accused of being your friend.
