tcu code help
I posted this a long time ago but didn't get a whole lot of responses...any help would be appreciated...
After tranny rebuild, power light blinks 16 times up cranking, twice per second for 8 seconds. I had my friend at Subaru of Jax put the scanner on it and it shows the following codes: Vehicle Speed Sensor 1 Vehicle Speed Sensor 2 Line Pressue Duty Solenoid C I'm not so worried about the first two because my speedometer still works, but the solenoid C bothers me. I don't want this to cause issue with my tranny or rear diff. Could this be something simple like a wiring harness? I'm not sure were to go from here... Note that when the tranny was rebuilt I did have a shift kit installed. Would an increase in flow of tranny fluid cause this? All of these are shots in the dark as I'm not too well versed on the inner workings of the transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Nate |

Can you verify those codes yourself using the instructions in the SVXipedia on http://svx-iw.com/
If your speed sensors aren't working neither will your speedometer.

codes
I saw them on the select monitor but I haven't done anything on my own to verify them. I didn't see a reason to when the dealers scanner showed them. Any ideas?

I only ask to verify because it doesn't seem to make sence for the speedometer to work with those errors.

Just guessing.
The codes that the select monitor shows, seem to be a general responce to a Transfer clutch operational problem. The TCU uses the two speed sensors to detect a difference in wheel speed (wheelspin). When this is found the TCU applies the Transfer clutch to move some of the torque to the rear wheels. If the TCU is performing this operation, but the difference in the two speed sensors is still different, and the two speed sensors and the C solenoid show no fault, it would post this type of code.
As to what would cause this fault?,,, It could be a hydraulic problem between the C solenoid and the Transfer clutch plates, like a leak of pressure, or a missing pipe between the two. Or a problem with either speed sensors, signal. First I would check to ensure that the transfer clutch is working. Get some body to watch the front/rear wheels, while you try to spin them on wet grass or sand etc. If only the front wheels spin, I'd look for a hydraulic problem. If none, or all, the wheels spin, then I would check the signal from the two speed sensors, to see if they are the regular signal, or intermitent. The speed sensors are magnetic, and can pick up small metal chips that short out the magnitic field to corrupt the signal. Harvey.
