Question alarm led rating

i need to know the ratings on the led bulb for the security switch. the guy at radio shack said i need to know or i could screw up the system. is he full of crap or does someone have this info.?i need to know so i can get the led today. thanks, Jason

It's not an LED (but then again my car doesn't have that button).

Search the forum for "radio shack" and you'll get the exact part number you're looking for.

Actually, for the security system it is an LED that flashes red when active.

I don't know the voltage, but you could use a meter to check it.

As for wrecking the alarm with the wrong LED, I guess it is possible, but I would think that the LED would fry before the alarm.

how do i check it with the meter? i checked the switch and one terminal was 12 volt constant and the other was pulsing .5 volts on my meter every 2 seconds.

My hunch is that the .5 pulse is the correct one.

I don't remember from the last time I had that switch apart, but could it be possible that the LED is in backwords? If it is a twist in, you may want to remove it twist it 180 degrees and reinstall and see if it works again.

and so are all my tail lights
