As it warmed up it would be able to handle the retarded spark better. So it would seem to run better.

i appreciate the help "svxcuseme" unfortunately I have the shop manual as well and thats where i was getting my voltages from. I've got another thread entitled "main relay" where ive got so more info written but basically i'm finding that there is some resistance somewhere according to my meter but i cant figure out where although my leads seem to be giving false readings so thats not too helpful for diagnosis. I appreciate the help so far and am always looking for any and all options to try. Do you think this could be caused by my crank walk issue that i have. (sever crank walk about 1/4 in. of travel.) I was wondering exactly how to check the base timing without the select monitor. Thanks again
