No more squishy brakes
After putting it off for months now, I finally got around(time as well as financially) to getting a new caliper for my driver rear. The old caliper was siezed open.
Well I picked up the new caliper last night from a junkyard(I know, I know), and everything moved nice and free like. So I get home, paint the damn thing red to match my other three, and put it on around 3:45 MDT. I always liked the feel of my drilled and slotted rotors but after replacing the worn caliper with something better, the difference is night and day. The brake pedal was always really squishy. Now it only moves about half an inch before I meet the windshield in a more personal way than I ever thought possible. I've said it before and I'll say it again, breaking has never been so much fun. That's awesome Keith. Junkyard parts aren't that bad...
Soon that'll be where SVXers will have to get most parts for their cars! -Chike

Caliper probably wasn't the reason the pedal firmed up.... I'm assuming you also bled the brakes, and that's probably the reason you have 'ultra firm' brakes. It feels great!

The only reason I considered it odd is that I have bled all my brakes four times over when I installed my drilled and slotted rotors up front. I'm uber picky about the way my brakes feel, and make it a point to bleed them every month or so. When I first got the car I noticed that there was a lot of pedal travel, and once I fanally had to tackle replacing the pads, couldn't get any more response to the pedal when I bled them at that point in time.
Hmmm, could be just a cowinkydink, but I'll just keep in my mind that is was the caliper, because I'm always right. LMAO j/k Keith
