Another 2 SVX household??

With any luck I will soon be the proud owner of two SVX's: the red 95 L/AWD I now own, and a red 94 L/FWD I may buy this weekend. It's in good shape, but needs a tranny. Maybe a possible 5 speed candidate?? We'll see...

No offense, but I can't see why anyone would want a FWD SVX. Isn't AWD one of the great things about the SVX? I know it is to me. But then again, I've always been an AWD sort of guy. I had a really nice 1988 Toyota Celica All-trac turbo for awhile. That was a fun car!

Anyway, I too now have 2 SVX's. One of which (the black 92 LS-L) would make a good 5 speed candidate.

sorry for the off-topic babble.....just my 2 cents.

All right Dave, a five speed prodject. A FWD 5 speed would be a cheap and easy job. A stock clutch could handle the power to traction ratio, and a FWD trannie should be cheap to come by, hell I had one kicking around for awile but had to take it apart for parts. Would this be a spare SVX? I'm thinking gutting it and doing the 5 speed, see how fast and light an SVX can get.

1 daily driver, 1 beater/experiment vehicle

Yeah, this would be a spare...that's why I don't mind it being 2WD (that and it's dirt cheap price!). Driverdave, you have to remember that AWD is only helpful in certain situations. Plenty of cars are only 2wd and they do just fine year round. No, I wouldn't want a 2wd SVX as my only vehicle, but as a second, cheap SVX it's a deal I can't pass up.

I've always believed in "if it aint broke....don't fix it!" I can't see taking out a perfectly good automatic tranny. So, why not do it on the car that needs a new tranny anyway?

FWD

I have both FWD and AWD SVXs. I think you will find the FWD quicker and maybe even faster in a lot of ways. Just not as good in the curves, but still respectable. I actually prefer to drive the FWD as a daily driver. I have all the parts to convert it to an AWD, but have decided against that. Bottom line-----I like both.
