Power Steering Pump Life/Mileage
I've got my SVX in my shop for a few weeks to tinker with some things and experimented a little with cooling power steering fluid when I put in the PWR radiator.
I've run it a bit, steering back a forth, drove it a few miles and the power steering pump is still one of the more noticeable sounds with my hood open. It's a '97 and just turned 90K miles and I'm wondering what the typical mileage is out of these. I put all new fluid in. There aren't many SVXs around me to easily compare sound level so wondering if anyone else's pump is one of the louder engine sounds? When you throw open the hood on a car like this you just want the sound to make you grin, not wonder if there's something wrong. |

Re: Power Steering Pump Life/Mileage
I've got a '92 with about 150k miles on it. Has its share of issues but the power steering by far is the loudest thing in the engine bay.

Re: Power Steering Pump Life/Mileage
The power steering pump is loud and so are the ticking fuel injectors.

Re: Power Steering Pump Life/Mileage
I don't suppose anyone has figured out a harmless additive that quiets it down?
