Because it could more effectively KILL YOU in the snow than most other vehicles on the road. I remember when my mom had her Mustang and it snowed. There couldn't have been more than a light dusting on the ground, and the car was all over the place.

Rarest car I've seen is the Jaguar XJ220, I'll bet it was probobly the fastest car I've ever seen too. I was working in Hicktown ehrm I mean Eatonville WA at the local grocery store when it came up to the four way stop on the corner, and headed toward the mountains. Oh man I couldn't believe it.
Just got a little more info on it. Engine Twin Turbo V6 Mid Engine Weight 3025lbs/1372kg 542.0 bhp @ 7000 rpm 475.0 ft lbs @ 4500 rpm Redline 7200 rpm Top Speed 212mph/341kph 0 - 60 4.0 seconds 0 - 100 8.0 seconds Last edited by I_Alcyone_I; 12-13-2002 at 01:16 PM. |

An XJ220? Sweet car! I can't believe you saw one out in Eatonville of all places! Probably heading up for some fun mountain driving. There's a lot of rare exotics driving around here in Bill Gates Town, but I've never see one of those!
If I remember correctly, a amusing little story about that car was the original concept model had a V12 engine. People were able to preorder it (and I believe they had to pay up front in full). Story is quite a few were pretty miffed to find out the actual production car had a V6 instead of the V12. Of course as your specs prove, it really shouldn't have mattered and I'm sure once they drove their new cars they didn't care what was under the hood. I believe for while there it was the fastest (top speed) "production" car on Earth.

Man, the only XJ220 I've seen in person is the 1:18th one sitting on my desk right here. I would love to see one in person.
There was an XJ220 in Gone in Sixty Seconds. Yeah, as if you can just find one of those on a moment's notice. I did see a McLaren F1 when I visited London a few years ago. I was on a bus tour and I saw it inside a building behind a huge window. 'Look! It's a...wow...it's so beautiful. No! Wait! Go back!'

Yeah, XJ220s are pretty much my favorite car of all time. The whole V6 thing sucked ... originally it was supposed to be AWD too, but it ended up only being RWD. And so far, its never actually GONE 212mph, thats just theoretical.

Over here, a C5 is a 3 wheel electric buggy

Hi Mr Sinclair!
I must admit I think the current 'vette, [C5 to you guys?] is the most under-rated performance bargain of this century or the last.
Quite a lot of power for the money. If I was to gripe, the car is set up for smooth circuit handling. No worthwhile suspension travel, so a hop, skip and jump rollerskate on the kind of roads we have around here. Roads, BTW the SVX can swallow with disdain at whatever speed you care to dial up. Horses for courses. As for the XJ220, lovely piece of machinery. But on specification next to the McLaren, not in the running. Indeed the F1 is also a very pretty and coherent design to look at. Andy, if you are on I have logged in to get your address from my inbox. Posting your plate today! Joe
