Front Alignment "Facts" IMHO
Per my recent experience, a couple things. The strut 19mm bolts you need to loosen are a ***** when on a shop alignment rack, both a far as position and the fact they are torqued to 120 ft/lbs or more and need a wrench held on each side. The shop here in the past loosened the bolts and shoved the wheel in/out to adjust the camber per machine reading, and tightened the bolts so the upper cammed bolt wasn't necessarily setting anything . Notice you can DIY push the spindle in (neg. Camber) or out (+) with the strut bolts loosened and then tighten with the cammed bolt/lined markers in various positions. Only if you hold the spindle tight against the cammed bolt will it move the spindle in/out as you turn it.
This may not be news to some but to me who figured turning the cammed bolt would adjust the camber automatically it explained how I was getting nowhere with setting more negative....I had to push the spindle inwards and than set...easy peasy. I have had other cars (EVO VIII) where turning the camber bolt did move the spindle in/out directly without any slack. |
