Air Control Valve?

Code thrown for (IAC) valve. Any chance I can get away with cleaning it or should I go ahead and seek replacement? Has been making a terrible noise under exceleration for the past week or so.

Re: Air Control Valve?

Can you try and describe the noise? If you're getting a code for the IACV, it's likely either very stuck or actually bad. You could try cleaning it, but if it's not very obviously dirty, it's probably actually bad. Also, in general these seem to be pretty reliable, so this is one part that I'd suggest saving the money and going with a used one.

Re: Air Control Valve?

It makes a higher pitch humming sound. Almost as if clogged or stuck maybe. I will probably take a look and try cleaning it asap(next few days). I will most likely go the used route, so if anyone is reading this who has a spare for sale let me know please.

This is my daily so Im hoping it will not cause any further damage before I can fix the problem.

Re: Air Control Valve?

Try flushing some seafoam through it through the vacuum line, it helped my car idle down smoother.

when you do replace it be very careful of the vacuum lines connected to it, they will be very brittle.
