I just changed mine last weekend. Make sure you're turning the right way. I used a box end wrench instead of a crow's foot. The wrench was slightly modified (bent) to fit over the end of the valve.
With that setup I had to turn left to right. With a ratchet/crow's foot you should be turning clockwise to remove the valve. It may take a little force to initially break-free the valve. Good luck!

I had to put a pipe on my breaker bar to get it to break loose and I thought I was going to snap the intake in half.
Its really hard to get leverage using a crow's foot and an extension. Just keep at it, a hammer tap on the breaker bar (do not hit a ratchet with a hammer) may help. It will come loose......eventualy Doug

Famous last words.
From what I can recall, my PCV valve was tight too, but I was able to loosen it without the need of a hammer. Lucky or extraordinarily strong...you be the judge. KuoH Quote:

PCV
You could always just pull the plenum off and do it with a socket.
Would removing the throttle body make it any easier? thanks, Jay

I changed my PVC and it was really tight to get out too. I agree with everything said above..... except for the SVX not designed with maintenance in mind. As I recall some engines had to be removed or lossened from the motor mounts to change plugs. NOT THE SVX. It has access plugs thru the sheet metal for this. If the SVX didn't have those little plugs we would all be going back to the dealer for plugs. What a pain that would be.
I agree the PVC is rather UNUSUAL to get out but the write-up in the how to locker is very good. I think the car is maintainable and better than most. I particularly like having all the bolts and nuts rust proofed |
