5 speed compared to auto

just bored so i figure all try to start a discusion, i have a 02 wrx 5 speed in my svx, just out of curiosity is it any lighter, and by how much, and i hear it is alot more durable then thos fragile oem svx trannys, and does that change my gear ratio at all? is there any mods i should/could do to it?
