HID Conversion Issues
Okay.
I bought a Ebay HID Ballast KIT complete with everything ya need. Pliugged it in. nada. Tried it on my brothers Accord. Worked Fine. My bulbs still worked fine. Tried in on A Celica. Worked Fine. Tapped it directly to the SVX Battery. Worked Fine. Took out the plugs, Soldered the harness. Nada Voltage Reading on The Battery to power Supply -- 12.13 Supply - ballast - bulb plug - 0.0 WTF is going on. I am at wits end here....... Thanks in advance. |

I don't know if this will help you, but the SVX front lights are earth-switched, which is not like most other cars - so you may have to do the wiring differently.

Earth is another term for ground. Earth switched means positive is always supplied to the headlight - when you switch on the lights you are completing ground.

You have to reverse the pins on the 9006 connector for them to work. It is pretty easy if you've worked with pins before.
Some ballasts work with either polarity, some don't. Doug

Reverse Pins: Switch the [positive terminals to Negative and vice versa?
Do i need to rewire due to the earth grounding? Someone please explain the difference or illustrate the difference in wiring to other cars Last edited by dmnknightomega6; 08-08-2007 at 09:05 AM. |

hey i just bought an ebay hid kit too. i was also stumped for about 30 mintes when i tried to plug and play but nothing happened. yeah, they're right the positive and negitive are backwards is what i figured out. it was a 1 minute fix though, the plug that goes into the ballast from the car, i flipped around(just had to cut off 2 little plastic snaps) and wallah, works perfect. not too sure if this is the electrically corect way but my light see 3 times further now!

The issue is that before HIDs, there was no positive vs. negative concern for filament bulbs so the factory could do them however they saw fit. It really has nothing to do with the earth switching, the earth switching requires less wire than the older, positive switched lights so it was a cost saving measure. Normal 9006 filament bulbs will work perfectly with the pins reversed so removing the HIDs before a sale and putting regular bulbs back in will be no problem. Doug
