timing belt alignment
My timing belt marks aren't lining up like they should in the diagrams. When I line the belt marks up (the old belt still has fresh marks on it) with the marks on the engine, the cam marks are about 90 degrees advanced. I rotated the belt a few times but it didn't seem to affect the position of the cam marks with regard to the belt.
Also, when I took the timing belt cover off, a bearing the size of a large pea fell out. All of the idlers felt ok though. There is no noise and everything feels tight. Any thoughts? |

As you keep turning the crank they EVENTUALLY should line up.
Do you have a picture of the bearing?

The lines on the belt are only meant for the installation. They don't need to line up after that. I assume they will line up every ??? many rotations, to figure it out, count the teeth and do the math.
