Hopefully the last thread about my P-car ownership asperations

After many numerous threads, I think I might actually be getting the 951 I have been salivating over. I'm still waiting for the owner of the 968 to get back to me, but the 951 is lighter, faster, cheaper (at least in the door), and has that Turbo boost adiction I hear is like crack! Keeping my fingers crossed.....

Sounds good Chike. He is doing some minor tweaks to her and should be ready in a few weeks. I still have to get the OK from the wife. Then figure out the best way to get it back from the middle of Indiana somewhere. As for dragging it, I'm a little tentative like you pointed out about abusing it. The clutch replacement is close to $1600 unless you do it yourself. She is built for the track. All that lovely boost on a nice straight like Lime Rock would be SWEET!

you'll save a LOT of money by doing things yourself.

i let the dealer do the timing belt/h2o pump though - one little screw up and its goodbye to the engine. i'll take warrantied work on that, please!

the Rennlist site is very helpful for technical stuff (or at least it was.)

Rennlist has been very helpful. That's where I found this car. I talked to him about it before he decided to sell it, so I'm pretty comfortable that I was getting the truth about her. As for the clutch, supposedly you have to pull the tranny and a cross member. Pretty involved. They say 968's are a 1000x easier. I'll be educating myself as much as possible about her. Since she isn't my DD I can afford to park her when needed.

Sweet. We'll still have to meet up sometime whether we drag race or not.

The 951's are definitely much better suited for open track racing (Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Beaver Run, Summit Point, etc) than drag racing. She'll be in her element there and the great balance and power inherent in the car will shine through...

I definitely love the side profile of those cars. Also, your first major upgrade should definitely be the 968 spoiler!

are you donating to the cause - i had no idea how much they cost until Tigershark mentioned it in another thread.

that spoiler does look awesome on a 951, though - it would hurt the wallet, but ..... oh so sweet.

I remember the price from his old thread. He'll definitely need to save up for it, but it'll be worth it in the end! Definitely looks amazing!!!

Spoiler was $800 unpainted. Moulding kit was $1300. Plus shipping and then have it painted. Figure close to $2500 to add the wing to a car I'll probably pay $7k for. Ouch.
