engine bearing failure...

is the diagnosis on my car...guess there's not much i can blame on the shop, can i? anyways, the dealer wants about 4400 for a new engine...parts and labor. that number seems a little high to me...any input would be appreciated. thanks

High? You call that high? That's about two hundred dollars less than what the dealership in my neighborhood quoted me for a TRANNY!!!

Man, I hate to hear that. I hope they can figure something else out. Sheesh.

no coincidence...

Sorry for your loss. The timing of this engine bearing failure is very suspicious. These engines very rarely fail unless run dry or somehow grievously abused. D.

The SVX engine is bullet proof.

If what you have reported is correct you should get someone with mechanical knowledge along side you. Engine bearings do not just fail! Why ? how? which bearing? what bearing, ask some solid questions. It sounds like you need a lawyer as something untoward must have happened to the car while it was in their care. Or is anything in fact wrong with it?

Do not let them do a thing until you have solid independent advice and don't sign anything or give them verbal instructions without a witness, in fact I would not talk to them further without a witness.
