pcv valve problems

Having a problem with the pcv valve. In short my SVX is idling rough and I thought I would start with the valve. Easier said than done. I located the valve, but can't get the thing loose. I am able to get my 19mm crow's foot on the thing, but it is frozen tight. I have tried liquid wrench to try to free up the threads, but as the pcv valve screws upward, I don't think any of the spray is actually reaching the needed threads. (By the way, I am turning the wrench the right way, which is opposite of normal because of the orientation of the valve) Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. If worse comes to worse I guess I can take the valve I bought to an independent shop to have them install it, but I can't imagine they would have any better luck than I have, and I don't want to end up with a frozen valve with stripped threads.

remove the throttle body, but not the intake manifold.
you can then get on it from the bottom with a deep socket.

I just did mine last weekend and it was on there good.

I think there is some type of thread lock on it.

John,

Very nice wrench for a stuck SVX PCV I haven't needed one yet. What kind of a torch did you use?

I had a welder brother-in-law modify the wrench.

Dunno how skinny you are

But I was able to squeeze my hand in from underneath and used a normal 19mm socket to get it off (yes, I'm pretty skinny). I ended up cutting my arm in the process, but it saved me the frustration of having to loosen it from the top. I also used this method to put the hose back on because I could not get it on all the way from the top. It's worth a shot, just have the band-aids ready.

I don't know if it is too late or if it will help, but there is a How-To in the locker on this process.

What is the angle of the wrench? Is this just right, or should it be a little more or a little less angle? I am thinking of making (excuse the pattent infringement) one for our NW area. Didn't know if it could be improved or not.

You know I think I you have the hooked-up version...Troy, Did you dip your handle in plastic dip to prevent hand slippage?? I was thinking about buffing mine to make it look like a genuine craftsman tool!

have you tried PB Blaster? its like Liquid Wrench on steroids. if THAT don't work, then you're in for some disassembly.

I agree. PB Blaster is some powerful stuff. They advertise on the can that it eats through styrafoam! haha.
