car smells hot

After i drive my car, it smells really hot (even if i only drive for 5 minutes). Sometimes after driving a little longer, a bluish smoke will come out under the front driver's side wheel well. When I lift the hood I cant tell where the smoke is coming from(this only happened once though). Also the werid thing is that my temperature gage is at normal it doesnt show that it is hot. Does anyone have any idea what it could be or does it happen to anyone else?

Mine does this too. It kind of smells like something electrical is melting?

I dismissed it as my brakes, it went away after my new pads were worn in.

Smoke could possibly be something dripping on a hot rotor?

You scared me, I went to look and see if anyone had replied, and the thread was gone! Obviously I found it though.

So you think its caused by the small brakes being inadequate for the size of the car? It happens when she drives it, but when I drive it, since I drive it harder, it seems to be alot more noticeable, the smell, and smoke under the wheel wells. I figured it was something with the brakes overheating. The rotors also feel warped when I use the brakes @ a decent speed. When its time for her to get new brakes, what should she go with to get rid of the braking problem? Should we go with a slotted rotor, and performance friction pads? I have no idea what works with these cars, so I turned to you. What should we put on it next for a breaking upgrade?

Thanks

If you look through some of the older threads, there's been a lot of talk about brakes lately. I'm sure someone who's actually done any brake mods can help you more then me.

I think you have the classic subaru oil leak onto the exhaust. I am really thinking this is what it is.

I agree. Oil that gets burnt usually seems to create blue colored smoke.
