They did put up signs... 1 every 20 ft. Unfortunately, I never saw one. I always parked on that street, and I parked in front of a big dodge truck. They didn't post a sign at the corner, where my car was parked. And it was night when I parked there. Here's what I think is bull****. My friend got towed about 3-4 weeks earlier.. they towed HIS car all the way to the other side of madison. His price? 75 dollars. ****ing bull**** man.

That cured the problem, But at the loss of the real AWD action. The US model, when driving down the road has 90 % of the drive going to the front wheels, 10% to the back, if the front wheels slip then more torque is applied to the back till it reaches a 50/50 split. Basically a front wheel drive car with rear wheel assist.

The other version drives with 36% of the torque going to the front wheels and 64% going to the back wheels. If either front or rear wheels slip the torque is brought up to 50/50. Basically a rear wheel drive with front assist.

It is a shame that they took that course, as they removed the heart, from the sure footed handling of the car.

Harvey.
Harvey, do you have any idea on how difficult it would be to convert a US model to the version the rest of the world got? It seems like all that would be needed is the "parking pawl" you referred to, and maybe a few other parts.

I was going to post something, but I figured why fuel the fire...

Gid'ay Shane, there is more involved than that. The main shaft is also different to suit the epicyclic diff that this version uses, so you can't just change the rear extension housing.

I would think that by now, the US Legacys and Impressa would be using the center diff version. The parts may be found there, if this is the case.

Just wondering.
